Just thinking.....

Another snowy day here on the prairie. Isn't is amazing how we can get used to the cold temperatures? The high is 10 degrees here today, but the sun in shining and it almost seems warm! Almost.

My goodness. Here it is the middle of February already. The days march on quickly.

Just a few things to share with you today.

#Apparently with lots of short, choppy sentences

#And fragments

Random One:

Have you heard this song yet? I can't get enough of it!

Random Two:

I like this one, too.

I'm adding both of these to my Holy Yoga playlist for the next couple of weeks. Can't wait to see the ladies yoga-it-up on "Move"!

Random Three:

The other day some friends and I went to a cute little store called Glamour Farms. They sell very reasonably priced cute clothes.

I found a really cute tunic top and was on the hunt for leggings to go with. They had some really cute patterned ones that I thought were age appropriate. I was shocked when I had to get a large and even more shocked that they didn't even come up to my waist. No matter how hard I tugged, they would only stretch to the about 3 inches below my naval. Yeeks!

Who wants to be tugging on leggings all day long? Not me! Those babies would have been down to my knees after an hour.

I came home and did a little looking on Nordstrom's website and found these by Zella. They were more expensive than most, and they aren't patterned, but they got rave reviews and I knew I could wear them for yoga too.

I love them, and I think you will too. They are warm and suck in shaky bits. So, if you are looking for leggings more suitable for someone who has a bum and a curve or two, you might want to give these a try.

Random Four:

Do you use essential oils?

I am way late to the party, I guess, because I am just now beginning to explore them. So far, I am in love with lavender and until last night when I woke-up at 4:00 (Jesus was calling, and I answered), I have slept like a baby whenever I used it.

What oils are your favorites?

Random Five:

I had to run to the John Deere store about 20 miles away from our farm to pick up Brad after he drove a tractor there to be repaired. On our way home, we took a road-less- traveled, and we were definitely rewarded.

If you look closely, there are 5 owls in this picture! I wish I had my good camera with me, but since I didn't, we tried to burn the image in our brains. We sat in the car with the window rolled down right by them for a long time, watching them turn their heads all around. Sometimes they were looking right at us. I tried to get them to "Whoo!" but they weren't interested.

I  don't remember ever seeing an owl up close and personal. Seeing 5 at the same time, was a real gift, and I am so glad we took the long way home!

So, girls, do you have anything to share with me?

  1. Hello Susan, sorry I am laughing as I visualize the pulling up your tight leggings...Haaaa
But yes, I am using essential oils daily. I love lavender also. And we use wintergreen for pain as a topical relief. This has been a very long winter here also. I hope you are well and that you have a wonderful Valentine's Day!
    Enjoyed seeing your update.
    Blessings, Roxy

  2. I have a pair of leggings like that my sis sent to me. I will never wear them but I would never hurt her feelings by telling her. :-)

  3. Oh- I love those good leggings-they are so worth the price.
I have been trying to find a Holy Yoga place around here but so far no one is teaching it.
I love the lavender and the rosemary essential oils.
Hoep you have a great week- xo Diana

  4. I have found some good leggings on a website called Woman Within. They are reasonably priced and fit so well. I have 4 pairs!! I could sleep in them, honestly!!

I haven't gotten into the essential oils but I have been using different sorts of oils to condition my hair. Now there are many on the market for your face. My friend also recently turned me on to Coconut oil to put on your body after a shower. It even helped her daughter's eczema!

I just bought a yoga DVD and plan to start tomorrow. Wish me luck!

    Jane

  5. I think the only time I've actually SEEN an owl is at the zoo! We can hear them, but at night they are hard to spot :) I have a few oils, but I really dont use them much. I should break them out :) However, i've been a bit turned off of the oil scene by some relatives who have really gone off the deep end with the oils - as in not seeing a doctor when they really should and instead rubbing some oils on what ever is ailing them and their children...

  6. If I slept any harder, they might bury me by accident! I use tee tree bath wash and it aids in the minor abrasions and cuts I get while farming and love eucalyptus scent. Re leggings, I just bit the bullet and buy huge gal size then spend my time trying to smooth out the wrinkles from them being so huge.
5 owls...WOW! I've never seen 5 but do have 2 roosting in my barn loft.

  7. You must have been so excited to come upon those owls! I sometimes hear an owl outside our house, but have yet to see one so close.

  8. I always love "random" posts. I don't think I'll ever get used to the cold. :( Even though it probably reached about 30 degrees here in Virginia today my house is still chilly. My space heater is my best friend. :) I haven't tried essential oils but have read up on them and would like to. What a treat to see the five owls. I have seen a very large owl in a tree outside of my mom's house. She lives in the woods and they have seen this owl for years. It was spectacular. I wish I could have taken a picture. :) I love taking the road less traveled. :) ~Gina

  9. Hi Susan! I think that tunic and leggings look is so cute! I hope you find better-fitting ones soon.

Those owls are just delightful! I thought they only came out at night, so I guess my 'city girl' slip is showing. I don't use essential oils, except clove. Many, many bloggers talk about it. It must work!

I saw two of my grandchildren this week. Heaven!

  10. What a special treat by taking the long way! We had one owl just on the edge of our property a few weeks ago. My husband called me to come see but I ran for the camera. Sadly, by the time I cam back it had flown away and I missed it. I guess sometimes we just need to enjoy the moment. Your comment about the yoga pants sucking in shaky bits has me cracking up. I think I will be visiting Nordstrom's web site : )

  12. I practically LIVE in my leggings these days so will be checking the ones you recommended out for sure. I love lavender oil too for sleep and relaxation. I also am a fan of sandalwood.
