And Then It Rained Some More

34

It is POURING again this afternoon and I am sick of it.

I don't want to seem ungrateful, but this is getting very old.

Our beautiful wheat is waiting to be harvested, we have beans that we can't plant, some of our corn looks terrible because the roots are tired of swimming in mud, and our nerves are frayed.

Last year, we had a total crop failure because of the drought and hot weather. I shared a little about it here and here.

This year, we can't even get all the seed in the ground because we get one torrential downpour after another. We had over 5 inches of rain last week alone, and I don't even know how much we have already had today. The storms hit us and then back up and hit us again.

It is unbelievable.

I know God has our back and we aren't going to starve, but it is taking a toll on our spirits. I know farmers aren't the only ones whose livelihoods depend on the cooperation of Mother Nature. My heart goes out to all of them.

I think the rest of my afternoon may include popcorn and my book and maybe noise canceling headphones to block the sounds of thunder and rain.

Forgive me for complaining, friends, but sometimes farming STINKS. Prayers for patience would be appreciated.

Hope your part of the world is nice and sunny!
